FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why teach a Sunday School class for infants?

A.

The potential exists for a tremendous amount of spiritual growth in the first years of life, which parallels the physical and mental growth we see.  The cornerstone of Little Lambs’ Bible Class is 1Corinthians 2:12-14.  We are expressing spiritual truths to the spirit of the baby.

Q. How can babies participate in class?

A.

These fast-paced lessons include activities and songs.  Each activity has a visual aid that can be touched by the children.  Usually it is a baby toy or other common household item that is used to illustrate a spiritual truth.  The children “play” while you teach.  Babies participate in the songs by using rhythm instruments such as rattles and drums, or by waving small flags.  I must point out, however, that children are not “required” to participate.  Sleeping babies are always welcome in class.  Also, fussy babies can usually be distracted because the lessons move so quickly.  Remember, spiritual truth is aimed at the spirit, not the mind or body.

Q. What are some options for the physical classroom set-up?

A.

Traditional classroom furniture does not work well for babies.  I recommend having class on the floor.  You might use carpet squares to enable each child to have his own spot.  We purchased a set of Lambskins.  Each lesson contains several items used to illustrate the teachings.  Put these in a large box beside you on the floor.  It is too distracting to the children if your teaching aids are all in plain view.

Q. How long does a class last?

A.

Class length is about 15 minutes.  In a Sunday School setting, the children spend the remaining time in the nursery.  During a one hour time slot, three groups of children could be taught in succession.

Q. How many children can you handle in class at one time?

A.

The number varies greatly depending on whether you have helpers available.  This is a hands-on class.  Activities are designed to encourage the children to touch and participate.  Helpers are very useful in directing the children and helping them keep focused.  Toddlers, for example, cannot wander around the room.  The optimal situation is for moms to come and hold their own little ones.  (The lessons are meaningful to all ages.  Our moms never felt deprived in missing the adult class.)  Other options include teenage helpers or nursery volunteers.  Baby seats can be useful for children too young to sit unaided.  If you must teach the class alone, you will obviously have to cut down the class size.

Q. What should I do if I am unable to download the curriculum I purchased?

A.

If you are unable to download the curriculum, please email us, using the contact form provided. We will send you the unit you purchased via email.
